焦洼河并不长，起点位于姚姜线，自西向东自流汇入马汊河，现状河道全长1.26千米，宽度3至6米，汇水面积113.7公顷。但其上游300米为湛庄社区，有一800米支流周边为唐国寺组、唐国寺社区，常住居民400余户，中游300米为上云陈拆迁地块，下游600米为姚庄拆迁地块。

“污染源众多、整治难度相当大。”江北新区水升办相关负责人用这样一句话评价整治前的焦洼河。因其汇水区范围内棚户区地处非建成区，污水管网不健全，居民生活污水直接下河；上游有部分田地，掺杂化肥的田间污水也会渗入河道；周边小作坊、家禽、家畜饲养和旱厕污水也常流入河中，种种原因致使焦洼河河水浑浊，呈灰绿色，还散发出阵阵臭味。

5月初，江北新区启动焦洼河河道整治工作，多次召开专题会议进行研究部署，结合实际，制定了相关整治措施： </p>

开展环境大扫除。焦洼河河道周边居民环境保护意识不强，河道两侧建筑垃圾成堆，还有紧贴河岸的菜地、旱厕披棚及猪圈。为此，街道及社区共出动挖机90余台次，清运建筑垃圾300余车，清除河道沿线全部杂草，铲除河道周边3米内菜地3600平方米，拆除各类旱厕披棚37座，新铺设草坪5000平方米，河道两侧的环境得到了很大的改观。

江北新区水升办相关负责人介绍，为实现长效治理管护，江北新区建立健全长效机制，考虑到焦洼河周边居民整体环境保护意识还较为薄弱，在居民区实施环境整治，集中收集垃圾，建设公共厕所，完善污水处理设施，加强宣传教育，从源头上减少生活源污水排放；另一方面，严格落实“河长制”管理，配备专职管养人员，每天对河道进行巡查，及时处置影响水环境的不良行为，将河道整治进行到底。
