和城市的道路一样，自来水从水厂流向千家万户的“道路”，也需要定时“清扫”，为的是保障家庭用水的水质。南京水务集团管线管理所供水设施科科长王苏红介绍，每年入夏时节，管线管理所都要找出可能存在水质隐患的管网进行冲洗。特别是由于城市建设的推进，地下的自来水管网会出现“末梢”。这些“末梢”管道从“主干管道”延伸而出，为以后入户预留出空间。但在启用前的闲置期，“末梢”管道其实是处于“断头路”的状态。水到这里不再流通了，必然会出现水质下降的情况。“就好比我们出去旅游半个月，回家打开水龙头，刚流出来的水可能会出现杂质，都会放一会儿再用。”王苏红说。

管线管理所每年都要对这些管道进行1次放水冲洗。由于放水必然需要事先停水，而夏季又是居民用水高峰，必须要赶在入夏前完成主干管道的冲洗作业。所以对于管理所的成员，每年入夏之际都格外忙碌。“为了减少停水对居民生活影响，我们尽量把冲水作业安排在夜间。”王苏红说。

除了市政公共的自来水管网，今年开始，南京水务集团管线管理所还开始走进小区，进行管道冲洗作业。“很多2000年前的自来水管网使用的是铸铁材质，时间一长必然锈蚀，影响水质，”王苏红介绍，“今年，我们梳理出第一批60多个这一类型的老旧小区，以每一栋居民楼为单位，依次进行精细化冲洗作业，这项工作将贯穿全年。”

冲洗作业时，工作人员会采取安装泄水闸门等措施，将进行冲洗的水排入雨水管道，往往冲洗作业要持续2到3个小时，冲洗前后还要对比检测。</p>

工作人员检测自来水水质的主要指标是浊度和余氯量，前者反映的是水中的沉淀物数量，后者是指水体中的氯气含量。王苏红介绍，国标要求自来水出厂浊度不超过1NTU、余氯量在每升0.3到4毫克之间。南京水务集团内控标准更高，要求浊度不超过0.2NTU，余氯量4月到11月在每升0.5至1毫克，12月到3月为每升0.3到0.8毫克之间。

管线管理所的冲洗作业，一方面是为了尽可能降低浊度，另一方面还要维持水中的余氯量。“氯是自来水的消毒剂，在安全浓度范围内，可以杀死细菌、保障水质，因此浓度太低也不行。”王苏红解释说，由于氯有挥发、消减的特性，所以冲洗作业的另一个重要作用，就是注入“新水”，维持管道中自来水的余氯量。
