Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines by means of the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

"These kinds of products being sold, generally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their security.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not know the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
